C.F. Martin Style 2 Soprano Ukulele – Pre-War – Original Case
Offered for sale is a beautiful pre-war C.F. Martin & Co. Style 2 soprano ukulele, dating to approximately 1927–1931.
This is a wonderful example from Martin’s golden era of ukulele production, with the elegant appointments associated with the Style 2 and a remarkably rich, resonant voice for a soprano-sized instrument.
The ukulele features solid Honduran mahogany construction with a dark Brazilian rosewood fingerboard. Style 2 appointments include white-with-black celluloid binding on both the top and back, a multi-ring soundhole rosette, and traditional rosewood tie bridge.
The fingerboard has 17 bar frets extending to the soundhole, along with pearl position inlays. The back of the headstock carries the traditional hot-stamped:

There is no front headstock decal, consistent with its early pre-war production period.
An especially interesting feature is the vertical internal C.F. Martin brand stamp visible inside the body. The instrument is fitted with period-style white tuners, which operate properly and hold pitch.
