📝 Description
Vintage aircraft engine piston believed to be from a Continental Aerospace Technologies / Teledyne Continental Motors (TCM) opposed aircraft engine family.
The piston measures approximately 5.25 inches in diameter and features a distinctive 4-ring groove configuration along with oil drain holes and a cast aluminum crown.
This 5.25" bore size is associated with several large Continental aircraft engine families, including:
Continental O-470 / IO-470
Continental IO-520 / TSIO-520
Continental IO-550 / TSIO-550
Engines in these families were used across many well-known general aviation aircraft, including various Cessna 182 Skylane, Cessna 210 Centurion, Beechcraft Bonanza, and other aircraft.
The underside shows the characteristic cast ribbed structure found on large opposed-aircraft-engine pistons. Any casting or part numbers present are faint and should be verified by the buyer from the photos before determining exact engine application.
A great piece for aviation collectors, aircraft mechanics, engine builders, shop displays, man caves, industrial decor, or repurposing into a unique aviation-themed display.
