Condition
Excellent vintage condition. This compact is exceptionally clean for its age with a bright, reflective gold-tone finish, crisp floral decoration, clean interior and intact mirror. Includes the original EISHO branded powder puff, which is marked MADE IN JAPAN. The puff appears very clean with little evidence of use. Minor age/storage wear may be present. Description
Beautiful vintage EISHO Japanese powder compact, believed to date to approximately the 1950s to early 1960s.
This elegant round compact has a polished gold-tone metal case with a decorative scalloped edge. The lid is covered in an intricate repeating pattern of roses, floral sprays and leaves, giving it a classic mid-century vanity aesthetic.
Open the compact to reveal a full circular vanity mirror and powder compartment. Most importantly, this example retains its original fabric powder puff. The puff features the EISHO name in gold within an ornate floral/scrollwork crest and is clearly marked MADE IN JAPAN.
The underside of the compact itself is also clearly stamped MADE IN JAPAN, providing additional confirmation of its Japanese manufacture.
The original branded puff is a particularly nice feature since these accessories were frequently used, discarded or separated from their compacts over the decades.
