Up for sale is a fascinating vintage militaria and North African headwear display bundle. This listing includes TWO separate, authentic vintage components sold together as a unique collector's pairing.
*** PLEASE NOTE ON FIT: While the Moroccan fez sits nicely on top of the French cap frame for presentation or shelf display, they do not lock, nest, or attach together securely. They are two distinct historical items that look excellent grouped together, but they will need to be secured manually if you intend to wear or move them as a single piece. ***
1. THE BASE CAP FRAME:
An authentic French military-issue visored cap frame. The interior features a crystal-clear, legible maker's ink stamp reading "Ets E. CHOLET MARSEILLE" and is size-marked "58 ½". The sides feature authentic brass buttons embossed with "LÉGION ÉTRANGÈRE" (French Foreign Legion) securing the chin strap. The structured dark navy/black band and visor show honest vintage wear but remain structurally solid.
2. THE FEZ / TARBOUSH OVERLAY:
A traditional red wool felt fez with a black tassel. The interior features an original paper maker's label from "Lamrani Frères" based in Fes, Morocco, complete with the classic cherry graphic detailing. The gold-stamped lettering inside the leather sweatband matches this Moroccan artisan origin.
Condition:
Both items are in good vintage condition. The wool on the fez is vibrant, the interior markings on the Cholet frame are sharp and legible, and the leather sweatband shows typical age-related distressing and wear around the edges as pictured. No major structural damage. Items will be packed separately side-by-side in a sturdy box to ensure they arrive safely without crushing.
