Unique collection of five vintage handmade framed folk-art pieces signed “GARNER.” Each features dimensional portrait heads created from what appears to be natural stone or lightweight porous material, with applied hair/fur, beadwork, fabric, leather-like material and hand-painted details.
The backs are individually handwritten with the subjects represented:
• Sioux – “Crazy Horse”
Single portrait with horned/fur headdress.
• Cherokee & Mohawk
Two dimensional portraits with applied hair, beadwork and painted details.
• Chippewa & Eskimo
Two portraits, including a fur-framed figure.
• Crow
Single portrait wearing a dimensional black hat.
• Apache & Hida
Two portraits, one wearing a hand-painted bird/eagle-style mask.
Each piece is mounted on a textured cream backing in a simple dark wood frame. Several are signed GARNER along the lower front.
These appear to have been created as a coordinated series and have remained together as a collection.
📌 Condition: Good vintage condition with age/use wear. Frames and backing show age, discoloration, spotting and surface wear. Applied hair/fur and embellishments show natural aging. Please review all photos closely as they are part of the condition description.
Important: Artist, age, tribal origin and exact materials have not been independently authenticated. The tribal/subject names above are transcribed from the handwritten labels on the backs. These are being sold as vintage folk art rather than represented as Indigenous-made artwork.
