Vintage Gerber Multi-Plier Mr Pinchy Transitional Patent US Navy Issued
Condition:
Pre-owned / vintage. Authentic service wear from actual use. Fully functional based on current inspection. Please see photos closely for cosmetic early-production Gerber Multi-Plier, commonly referred to by collectors as the original “Mr. Pinchy” style Gerber multitool.
This is a particularly interesting transitional example because the two handles carry different generations of Gerber patent markings.
One side is stamped:

The opposite side is stamped:
U.S. 5142721
PATENT 5212844
PAT PEND
The 5142844 marking is associated with an early Gerber patent-number stamping error, while the opposite handle carries the corrected 5212844 number. This appears to place the tool during the transition between early Gerber Multi-Plier production variations.
This is not a later MP600. It is an original early Gerber Multi-Plier made in the USA.
Military history
I am the original recipient of this tool. It was issued to me while serving in the U.S. Navy submarine force during the 1992–1995 period and remained in my possession afterward.
It is being sold from my personal collection.

Condition
This tool was actually carried and used during military service, so it has genuine wear consistent with its age and history.
There are scratches, finish wear, small areas of oxidation/patina and general signs of use. I have intentionally not polished or refinished it, as I believe the original service wear is part of the character of the piece.
The blades, file, pliers and other tools appear to remain in good usable condition. Please review all photos carefully, as they are considered part of the description.
