Description
Impressive large vintage Italian glazed ceramic fruit basket centerpiece, measuring approximately 14” tall × 15” wide.
This substantial sculptural centerpiece features an abundant arrangement of individually modeled three-dimensional fruit, including pears, apples and clusters of smaller fruit, surrounded by applied leaves. The arrangement rests in a beautifully modeled basket-weave pedestal bowl with a flared foot.
Finished throughout in a warm ivory/cream monochrome glaze, the piece has the classic appearance associated with mid-century Italian blanc-de-chine and creamware decorative ceramics.
The scale is particularly impressive. At approximately 15 inches across, this is considerably larger than many of the Italian ceramic fruit arrangements encountered on the secondary market and makes a dramatic table, sideboard or console centerpiece.
The underside is unmarked, and no specific manufacturer is being attributed. Similar large unmarked Italian creamware fruit baskets and topiaries are generally associated with mid-20th-century Italian decorative ceramics.

Condition
Good vintage condition overall with multiple chips, breaks and losses to the delicate applied ceramic leaves, including several visibly incomplete leaves. Please examine the close-up photographs carefully.
There is also expected vintage surface wear, glaze variation, crazing/spotting and discoloration in recessed areas.
Importantly, the large modeled fruits, basket and pedestal remain visually impressive, and the leaf losses do not detract significantly from the overall presentation when displayed.
Sold as found and unrestored. All known damage has been photographed and should be considered part of the condition description.
