Description
Add a unique vintage touch to your home bar, wine cellar, or mid-century décor with this matching pair of authentic Lagosta Portuguese wine bottles. These green glass bottles retain their original decorative raffia netting, colorful paper labels, and red wax crest hang tags, making them excellent display pieces for collectors of vintage wine bottles and Portuguese memorabilia.
The larger bottle measures approximately 10” x 4.75” x 3” and originally contained 1 Pint 9 Fluid Ounces. The smaller bottle measures approximately 8” x 3.25” x 3.5” and originally contained 12 Fluid Ounces. Both are labeled as 12% alcohol by volume and were produced in Portugal by Real Companhia Vinícola.
The larger bottle includes a loose Austin, Nichols & Co., Inc. importer paper strip that was found with the bottle when acquired. It has been tucked behind the original raffia netting for safekeeping. I cannot verify whether it was originally attached in this manner, but it appears period-correct and is included with the bottle.
The bottles are being sold together as decorative collectibles. The original screw caps are no longer present.

Condition
Very good vintage condition. No chips or cracks were noted on either bottle. Original labels remain bright and display well with only light age-related wear. Raffia netting is original and overall presents nicely; however, a few of the raffia strings have become detached in a couple of spots from age while the netting remains largely intact and continues to display well. Original screw caps are missing. The importer paper strip is loose and has been tucked behind the raffia for safekeeping. Please review all photographs as they are part of the description.

Lagosta wines were exported from Portugal during the mid-20th century and are recognized for their distinctive green glass bottles wrapped in decorative raffia netting. These bottles were marketed as both table wines and attractive display pieces, making surviving examples with their original labels, wax crest tags, and raffia coverings desirable to collectors of vintage wine bottles, Portuguese exports, and mid-century barware.
