Vintage Mattel No. 460 Organ Grinder Monkey Jack-in-the-Box, featuring colorful circus illustrations, a standing organ-grinder figure, and a hand-cranked musical mechanism.The underside label reads “Design Copyright 1952” and credits Bob Routledge for the design and Ted Duncan for the musical arrangement. Manufactured by Mattel Incorporated, Los Angeles, California. The copyright dates the design; the exact manufacturing year is unknown.Condition and operation:• Turning the crank produces some music, but the lid does not automatically release and the monkey does not pop up.
• The monkey is present inside and can be seen by lifting the lid slightly. Its condition cannot be fully assessed.
• Organ-grinder figure retains its blue polka-dot fabric shirt, red neck ribbon, and red plastic hands.
