A Little Hockey History
The Milwaukee Admirals began play in 1970 and joined the International Hockey League (IHL) in 1977, becoming one of the league\'s longest-running and most recognizable franchises.
The Admirals competed in the IHL until the league ceased operations in 2001, when they joined the American Hockey League (AHL). The franchise continued its winning tradition, capturing the 2004 Calder Cup championship.
Founded in 1945, the original IHL entertained generations of hockey fans across North America before closing in 2001. The Admirals remain one of the great success stories of a franchise continuing beyond the league\'s original existence.
