Vintage “Miss Fenwicks Failures” by Esme Stuart published by A.L. Burt Co . I’m not sure of the publish date, I did not find one, but by the style of art and binding it is probably late 1800’s to early 1900’s. It is not a first edition, that was printed under a different publisher in 1885. Covers have some wear, fading and discoloration mostly on back cover and spine. Front cover has some signs of wear but very nice graphics, bold colors and easily read Lettering. Spine is faded the worst and there is scuffing and scratches present and some discoloration. The colors on the graphics on the spine are not as bright as on the cover but pretty good, everything is still legible. Gilding on the title has some wear but still shiny silver and easily read. There is a crack near the seam on the back cover where there the cloth has flaked off about 2 inches long. Corners have only moderate wear and bottom of the edge of the spine has folded over cloth but no tears. Top edge of the spine has more severe folding that has done some damage, no tears but some exposed cloth and some strings. Please see pics. Inside front cover has a long wrinkle along the seam and some creases, there are signs of yellowing and there is a large inscription on the right side. Back cover also has a long wrinkle along the seam and minor yellowing. Page edges have darkened and scuffs and scratches can be seen. Inside pages have some yellowing but pretty clean. There is a small divot/tear on top right corner of page 297 a crease in another and an mis-cut corner that sticks out of sides. Overall book is in good condition.
