Rare, vintage Poliwoggs Folk Art Jointed Clown Figurine measuring approximately 6.25" tall. Designed by renown folk art creators David Gallagher and Thomas Whishaw, this charmingly quirky piece features a primitive, antique aesthetic with beautifully textured details that mimic early American papier-mache.
He is from the early production run, first edition, piece from the original Salamander Graphix production run. This clown features a clean, unmarked black base--characteristic of the earliest Poliwoggs releases that originally relied on paper hangtags rather than bottom stamps. Hand painted, highly collectible.The clown stands on a pedestal base, sports jointed wire-hinged arms, and holds a colorful striped circus ball. Excellent additions to any folk art, primitive Halloween, or vintage clown collection.
