Up for sale/sale is a vintage Rivarossi HO scale 2-8-0 Consolidation steam locomotive and coal tender. The side of the tender is marked with \"280\" indicating its wheel layout configuration. The underside components are clearly stamped \"Rivarossi Como-Italia\".
This model is being sold strictly FOR PARTS OR REPAIR / NON-RUNNER. Please read the full condition breakdown below and review all photos carefully before offerding.
CONDITION DETAILS:
- Untested / Non-Runner: The electrical wires linking the locomotive cab to the tender have been cleanly disconnected/cut and will need to be stripped and re-soldered to pass track power to the motor.
- Missing Parts: The front wheel pilot truck (the single axle with 2 small wheels under the front boiler) is entirely missing. The front coupler mechanism is also missing.
- Cosmetic State: The main locomotive body has some dust and aging. The plastic coal tender shell shows some bowing/separation along the bottom seam line where it snaps onto the metal frame, which is typical for these vintage plastics. Drive rods and larger drive wheels move smoothly by hand.
This is an excellent donor locomotive for hard-to-find Rivarossi replacement parts, or a rewarding winter restoration project for a model railroading
