Vintage Siam / Thailand Porcelain Gambling Token Coin 10-Piece Collector Set
Unusual vintage Asian collector/souvenir set featuring 10 different miniature glazed porcelain tokens, permanently mounted on their original approximately **6.5\" x 5\" display card.
The card is marked “Porcelain Coins,” “10 DIFF.,” “CHINA,” and “10 BAHT.” The individual porcelain pieces measure approximately 1\" and include an assortment of round, rectangular and shaped forms decorated with raised Chinese characters, animals and symbolic motifs in blue, cream and tan glazes.
The pieces are based on the distinctive porcelain gambling tokens historically associated with Siam (present-day Thailand). Original Siamese porcelain gambling tokens were used primarily during the 19th century and are sometimes referred to by collectors as pee or pi tokens.
This particular group appears to be a later vintage souvenir/collector presentation rather than a documented 19th-century issued set. Based on the packaging and presentation, we believe the set most likely dates to approximately the mid-to-late 20th century, possibly circa 1960s–1980s.
The tokens appear to have been glued directly to the original display card, so they have intentionally not been removed for examination of their reverse sides. Because of this, the individual tokens\' exact age and authenticity as period Siamese gambling pieces cannot be independently verified. They are being offered as found as a vintage collector/display set.
Details: 10 different porcelain tokens; approximately 1\" each; original display card approximately 6.5\" x 5\"; glazed porcelain construction; assorted Chinese characters, animals and symbolic designs; maker unknown/unbranded; original 10 Baht price marking.
Condition: Vintage condition with expected age-related discoloration, glaze irregularities and surface wear. The original card and clear protective covering show wrinkles, creasing, discoloration and other age-related wear. Tokens remain permanently mounted to the card and have not been removed.
