Vintage solid wood mortar and pestle with wonderful rustic character and extensive evidence of previous use.
Mortar measures approximately 5.5” across and approximately 3” high. Both mortar and pestle show evidence of turned construction, including centered turning points/tool marks.
The mortar appears to have been turned from a solid piece of wood and retains extensive surface wear, staining, scratches and patina. Interior shows substantial wear consistent with previous functional use.
Condition: Heavily worn vintage condition. Mortar has significant age/use cracking and smaller checks. Pestle has substantial splitting and wood loss/chipping at one working end. Numerous scratches, stains, finish variations and other signs of age and use throughout. Please examine all photographs closely.
