Vintage Walt Walker African American art print featuring a striking portrait of a young girl, with the reproduced “Walt Walker ’74” signature/date visible in the lower portion of the image.
The print was removed from its original vintage frame for closer inspection and identification. The backing carried the original FIGI Graphics branding and a FIGI Graphics label identifying the style/catalog number as EB-505A. FIGI Graphics described itself on the label as a “Fashion Leader in Wall Decor.”
Approximate print/image size is 17 x 13 inches. The original frame measures approximately 22 x 18 inches.
Walt Walker was a Los Angeles artist known for depicting African American subjects and was also associated with the historic LeJan Gallery in Los Angeles. Period documentation shows Walker selling lithographs of his work.
CONDITION:
This is a vintage piece showing age and condition issues. There are numerous small brownish circular moisture/water marks across portions of the print, along with areas of surface disturbance, age-related discoloration and general wear. Please examine all photographs closely for the exact condition.
The print has been removed from the frame and will be sold as shown. The original frame and FIGI Graphics backing/labels helped identify the piece and are documented in the listing photographs.
The “Walt Walker ’74” marking appears to be part of the printed image rather than a separately hand-applied autograph, so this piece is NOT being represented as hand-signed.
Despite the age and moisture-related condition issues, the artwork remains visually powerful and displays beautifully. A wonderful vintage example of Walt Walker’s African American portraiture and 1970s Black art.
