Vtg 1890s-1920s Ephemera Chicago Examiner Letters Lima OH Mining World Series: $250.00
1913 Chicago Examiner Hand-Written Letters: Multiple pages written on official, beautifully illustrated Chicago Examiner ("Monarch of the Dailies") letterhead. Written by a circulation department insider, these letters are packed with gritty, entertaining period gossip, mentions of Chicago Tribune colleagues, running into top advertising executives in New York, a wild local Christmas fueled by Swedish "Glog" (Glögg) at the corner saloon, and the chaotic atmosphere in the office during the 1913 World Series. The Metheany Family Letters: Intimate handwritten letters to "Bob" from his mother, detailing local business downturns, travel, and crucially mentioning "Mother Metheany died Saturday." This directly ties the family to A.L. Metheany, a massive civic figure who later became the Mayor of Lima, Ohio. 1896–1907 Mining & Drilling Ledger Sheet: A massive, hand-inked folio page tracking industrial well-boring, shaft digging, and drilling contracts for major regional syndicates (Dawson & Fagan, Garrett & Danvers, etc.). 1913 & 1924 Commercial Documents: Includes a crisp 1913 typed corporate order from printers Cameron, Amberg & Co. addressed to The Hiram A. Holdridge Co. (famous operators of the landmark Model Mills in Lima), and a typed 1924 financial stock statement from The Mutual Savings and Loan Company of Lima, Ohio, explicitly signed by Secretary Clarence L. Mumaugh and featuring future Mayor A.L. Metheany on the board.
