Vtg 1940/50s WALDES USA Brass Metal Zipper 18\" Separating Dress Jacket Sewing For Sale

Original vintage WALDES separating metal zipper, measuring approximately 18 inches long, with deep burgundy/wine red fabric tape and brass-colored metal teeth and hardware.

The zipper pull is marked WALDES on the front. The reverse of the slider is stamped MADE IN U.S.A. 78-1. Please see the close-up photographs of these markings.

This is a separating/open-end zipper, meaning it fully opens at the bottom and separates completely into two pieces when unzipped. This style was intended for front-opening garments such as jackets, coats, sweaters, cardigans and similar clothing.

The zipper has a wonderful authentic vintage appearance, with substantial metal teeth, deep burgundy tape and naturally aged brass-colored hardware. A particularly useful find for vintage clothing restoration, period-correct jacket or coat repair, costume work, tailoring, sewing, or a collection of vintage American garment hardware.

Measurements: Approximately 18 inches long.

Condition: Vintage used condition, removed from a garment. The upper ends of the fabric tape have been cut and show fraying, loose threads, old stitching/stitch holes and evidence of the original installation. Burgundy fabric tape shows fading, discoloration, staining and general age/use wear. Metal teeth and hardware show tarnish, oxidation, scratches, surface wear and natural aged patina.

Function: The zipper has been tested. It opens and closes and fully separates into two pieces as intended.
