Vintage 1950’s/60’s “Old Pal” Shoulder Minnow Pail Good Cond. Display Or Needs Strap
This one —sometimes called a bait canteen or just pail — is in nice shape. It’s mostly used streamside to contain minnows but a few anglers use it also for worms and there is no reason why it couldn’t be transported onto the boat to save room. The size is typical for this type of container — 7 inches tall and 6 inches across the top oval. It’s lightweight at 11 ounces. It’s very clean, real minimum of rust for its age. Quite a few people collect old bait containers and for that person displaying the item as is might be an option. Otherwise, a collector might cannibalize a less-well-off pail and take the strap from it. I’m guessing at the age but I think I’m pretty close. I have used these myself when I did a lot of stream fishing. Of course the canteen slips over one shoulder. The strap when present is adjustable but not elaborate.
