Today I am offering this exceptionally rare, vintage mid-century ceramic miniature monkey figurine by Josef Originals, dating to the 1960s.
Known among collectors as the "Hangover Monkey," this humorous kitsch piece depicts a droopy-eyed monkey nursing a morning after headache with a white old-fashioned canvas ice pack bag atop his head, complete with a molded blue hexagonal screw cap.
This charming little fellow measures approximately as follows:
- 3" high
- 2" from front to back
- 1½" from side to side
He is in excellent vintage pre-owned condition.
The color is rich and saturated.
The brown matte glaze is clean with no chips, cracks, or flea bites, even on high-wear areas like the ears, hands, or nose.
The unglazed base shows tiny remnants of the original paper label that would have been attached.
This highly collectible piece is currently unavailable anywhere else online that I could find.
