This is an original and very good example of the British Pattern 1902 or 1904 overcoat. Made from stiff brown wool with 5 general service buttons up the front. The rear belt adjustment is composed of a strap with three button settings. Condition is quite good with no tears or repairs to the heavy wool. All buttons are soundly affixed. Any markings which may have been in the lining are long gone.
Sizing: The coat measure 19 inshes on the front from arm-pit to arm-pit. ( so I suppose the chest size is 38.) The coat has no doubt been shortened (as was the common practice for use in the trenches) so there is no hem at the bottom. It measures 36 inches from the collar hooks to the bottom of the coat.
