Image size 12-3/8" x 17-3/4" on 13" x 19" paper. Here we have a recruitment poster issued in 1918 for Czech and Slovak volunteers residing in the U.S.. At the time, Czech and Slovakia lands were part of Austria-Hungary and those in favor of independence had determined that the best route towards those aims were by fighting with the Allies. The artist, Vojtech Preissig, would later become a victim at the Dachau Concentration Camp during WWII. Roughly translated, "Manifesto to the Czechoslovak People in America!", these were printed by the Wentworth Institute of Boston as poster no. 8. This poster is printed on heavy, 230 gsm (10 pt cover), premium matte art paper.Posters are centered on full sized paperto accommodate readily available frames or custom matting. The image size refers specifically to the artwork itself, not the size of the paper it is printed on. Therefore, the paper size is always larger than the image size. All posters have a minimum 1/4" white border.
