The Yamaha YFH-8310ZIIS Custom Z Bobby Shew Professional Bb Flugelhorn was created in close cooperation with Bobby Shew. This traditional flugelhorn combines brilliance and lightness in a significantly evolved instrument. A stable high register and rich tonality offer new levels of musical expression, making this model well suited for live jazz venues as well as studio applications.

The valve casing is the critical heart of any flugelhorn, and on the YFH-8310ZIIS, the materials and braces connecting the independent valve casings have been refined to provide improved breath efficiency and ideal playing resistance.

A new barrel-shaped screw design makes tuning easier to operate while also contributing to better tonal definition, improved playability, and easier high-note production. The use of brass results in a softer tone and freer-blowing feel.

The knurled barrel is easy to operate, while its hollow design contributes to a freer playing feel. The design has also been refined to optimize the instrument\'s overall balance.

The shorter Malone Pipe™ features a tapered section between the leadpipe and valve casing for improved high-register stability, playability, and pitch accuracy. It also provides the soft, warm, expressive tone expected from a traditional flugelhorn.

A third-slide trigger designed specifically for the Custom Flugelhorn models is ergonomically engineered for smooth, easy operation regardless of the player\'s hand size.
