The engraved scene presents an open panoramic view of the city with Salisbury Cathedral prominent at center, surrounded by buildings and open landscape. Copperplate engraving with later hand coloring on laid or early wove paper. Sheet approximately 11¼ × 8¾ inches; engraved image approximately 8¼ × 5¼ inches.
Condition: Fair antique. Overall age toning and mottled browning, scattered foxing and staining, darker marginal discoloration, edge wear, short tears and small losses, creasing and light waviness. The view, title and publication line remain substantially complete and legible. Hand coloring appears to be later. Unframed.
