The 7144 is an adaptor for 3rd party solenoid valve that is equipped with flow control for adjusting speed for rudder positioning, as well as an auto-fill system. The 7144 can be adjusted to provide a very small volume of fluid to the header tank, which in turn requires an overflow line to the main tank, to provide control over the rudder in either direction.
The maximum flow capacity of the 7144 is 6 gallons (22.7L) per minute, and can be equipped with either an open or closed centre solenoid valve. If more than one valve is used in a single system, a closed centre solenoid valve is required on both.
It is also recommended that volume compensated pumps are part of the steering gear system, to reduce heat and for better economy.
