A scarce 1927 first edition of The Kingdom of Faerie by Geoffrey Hodson, published in London by The Theosophical Publishing House Ltd.
Especially desirable because it retains its original illustrated dust jacket by noted sculptor, illustrator, and pottery designer Phoebe Stabler. Surviving copies are uncommon, and examples retaining the original jacket are particularly difficult to find.
In this early Theosophical work, Hodson records his claimed clairvoyant observations of nature spirits and the unseen natural world. Subjects include devas, sylphs, gnomes, fairies, brownies, mannikins, the Kingdom of Pan, and cooperation between devas and humans.
Hodson was a prominent Theosophical writer closely connected with the early-20th-century revival of interest in fairies and nature spirits following the famous Cottingley Fairies controversy.
