Up for grabs is a killer 1985 Fernandes The Function BXB Explorer Bass, straight out of the prime Japanese production era. Finishing out in a nicely aged vintage cream that has taken on a rich antique vibe over the decades, this one packs serious attitude and classic 80s MIJ craftsmanship.
It comes equipped with the original passive F.G. Technology humbuckers housed under factory BXB-branded covers, throwing down deep, punchy low end with plenty of mid-range bite. The classic pointy headstock features the gold logo and original heavy-duty tuners, paired with a high-mass gold bridge, gold control knobs, and a 3-way toggle switch. The maple neck feels fast and smooth, topped with a dark rosewood fretboard and clean dot inlays.
The gold hardware shows honest age and patina, adding real character to the aesthetic. The body has expected cosmetic wear from use over the years, including typical finish scuffs around the sharp points, but structural integrity remains solid.
