Up for sale is a 2010 Panini Absolute Memorabilia Rookie Premiere Materials Jersey Number PRIME card of Arrelious Benn of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, card number 217, hand-numbered 01/10. Authenticated by the manufacturer, photographed here front and back exactly as you will receive it.
Serial numbered 01/10 — the first of ten. The print run is stamped in silver foil across the foot of the back: 01/10. Ten copies of this card exist anywhere in the world and this is number one of them. I do not get to write that sentence often. Ten copies is the point at which a card stops being scarce and starts being effectively unavailable, and the 01 is the one collectors want out of the ten. That is the number on the back of this specific card, not a general description of the parallel — it is photographed and you can read it for yourself.
The windows are cut as his own jersey number. The face of the card is die-cut into a huge 17 — Benn\'s number with Tampa Bay — and both digits are windows onto material. The 1 holds a genuine PRIME patch: Buccaneers black running into a band of orange with the jersey\'s own zig-zag stitching crossing it, then into red. The 7 is backed in red Buccaneers jersey. Above them sits a third, separate window holding red pebble-grain football leather, with the grain clearly raised and visible. PRIME is stamped beside it. Three windows, four materials, all on a card numbered to ten.
What Panini certifies. The back of the card carries Panini\'s own wording, quoted here exactly: \"The enclosed pieces of material were cut from Authentic Items personally worn/used by Arrelious Benn on 5/22 at the 2010 NFL PLAYERS Rookie Premiere. The authentic Event-Worn/Used Items were obtained and are guaranteed by Panini America, Inc.\" To be completely clear: this is event-worn and event-used material from a dated, named occasion — the Rookie Premiere in May 2010 — and not game-worn material from an NFL Sunday. I would rather say that plainly than let the word \"worn\" do the work for me.
Autograph-free — this card is not signed. Absolute produced both signed and unsigned versions of its Rookie Premiere Materials cards, and this is an unsigned one. What you are buying is a prime patch, a jersey swatch and a piece of football leather on a card numbered to ten. If a signature is what you are after, this is not the card.
The look. A full-bleed rainbow refractor background that throws light in every direction as the card moves. RPM is set up the left edge in silver, the Absolute Memorabilia 2010 shield sits in the top right corner, and BUCCANEERS ▲ ARRELIOUS BENN runs up the right edge. Benn is cut out at the left in the Buccaneers\' red 17, and the die-cut 17 fills the middle of the card at a size you very rarely see on a memorabilia card. Thick, heavy board, and far better in hand than in a photograph.
Arrelious Benn. A receiver out of Washington, D.C., Benn spent three seasons at Illinois and finished his college career with 159 receptions for 2,221 yards, leaving as one of the most productive receivers in the programme\'s history. Tampa Bay took him in the second round of the 2010 draft, 39th overall, and he caught 25 passes for 395 yards and two touchdowns as a rookie before later spells with Philadelphia and Jacksonville.
About 2010 Panini Absolute Memorabilia. Absolute Memorabilia has been one of the hobby\'s signature high-end football releases since the late 1990s, built around thick, foil-heavy cards, die-cut memorabilia windows and low serial numbers. Rookie Premiere Materials is the flagship rookie subset, and the Jersey Number variants — where the die-cut is the player\'s own number rather than a set of letters — carry the shortest print runs in the whole subset, which is how a card ends up numbered to ten.
Condition. This card has been inspected front and back under direct light and is in excellent shape. Corners are sharp, the edges are clean, the surface is free of creases, dents and print defects, and all three memorabilia windows are flush and fully intact with no lifting. It has been stored in a penny sleeve inside a rigid top loader and has not been handled outside of protection. Please study the photographs closely — they are of the exact card you will receive, not a stock image, and they are the most accurate description of condition I can give you.
