This authentic, antique 18th-century painted wooden window shutter panel originates from the historic city of Bikaner in Rajasthan, India. The front features beautiful, hand-painted figural scenes executed in a traditional Rajasthani miniature style against a vibrant terracotta-red ground. The imagery depicts two distinct women—one holding an infant child and the other holding scales next to a small child—complemented by lower panels illustrating parrots atop large melons. Heavy, period-correct iron strap hinges, latches, and pintles remain intact on the rugged frame. The reverse of the panel retains an aged, heavily layered seafoam/turquoise and forest green paint finish with dramatic craquelure.
This piece features a documented chain of custody, having been acquired via an established estate sale.
