A striking early portrait, painted circa 1690-1720, featuring a distinguished gentleman in classic period attire. The sitter is shown with a curled wig, white cravat, and richly detailed coat with decorative buttons — all hallmarks of the late Stuart/early style. The confident pose and refined composition strongly reflect the portrait traditions associated with Sir Godfrey Kneller and Michael Dahl, the leading artists of the era. Portrait has a small area in need of repair.
This painting is gorgeous and life size. Too big to ship. Unless by crate. Pick up only or I can bring to UPS and you talk with them and take it from there. I put a few works by Kneller in for comparison. I am putting attributed to Kneller but I truly feel this is Kneller.
I believe this is Dudley North. I also threw in some other Kneller’s toCompare as well as Sir Dudley North which he did several. 1684-1691 He married Katherine Yale , daughter of Elihu Yale the Yale college benefactor. More research is needed but I am I believe right on this.
