This is an antique optometrist trial lens set from the late 1800s. It includes 217 different lenses that fit on the included trial frames. The trial frame shows some signs of oxidation. The original labels are somewhat difficult to read, and it appears that additional labels may have been added later.The wooden tray or holder, which is simply placed inside the case, measures 12" x 20" and appears to be made of oak with a red velvet lining. The outer wooden case measures 13" x 21.25". I do not know the manufacturer of the set.There is a personalized name and address tag on the wooden case that reads "Alfred F. Schulhof, Milwaukee 3, Wisconsin.". This is exactly how I found the set; none of the lenses have been cleaned, as it has been stored in the collection for many years.* * * * * * * * *
