Beautiful old decorative hardcover featuring green cloth boards with an ornate period design on the front cover and spine. The interior includes a detailed illustrated frontispiece and decorative title page.
This volume contains Bacon’s classic essays, including Of Truth, Of Death, Of Marriage and Single Life, Of Love, Of Parents and Children, Of Studies, and many others. It also includes The Wisdom of the Ancients, a series of mythological and philosophical writings.
A great display piece for an antique bookshelf, library, office or collection of classic literature and philosophy.
CONDITION:
Antique preowned condition with age related wear. The green cloth cover shows spotting, discoloration, rubbing and general surface wear. There is noticeable fraying and cloth loss at the top of the spine along with some wear to the corners and edges.
Most importantly, the book is still completely held together. The binding is intact and the pages remain securely attached. Interior pages present nicely for their age with expected toning and occasional spotting. No major loose sections or major interior damage observed.
No publication date was found during inspection. This appears to be an early M. A. Donohue & Co. edition.
