Antique Japanese Meiji Gyokuzan- Crane Okimono, Finely Detailed Openwork, Asahi?:
$725.00

Japanese Meiji-period carved okimono featuring an elegant crane surrounded by intricately carved foliage and naturalistic elements. This small but exceptionally detailed collector's carving displays remarkable three-dimensional modeling, including individually articulated feathers, layered leaves, and an attractive openwork design. The crane motif is an auspicious traditional Japanese subject associated with longevity and good fortune. The underside bears a rectangular artist's seal signature reading (Gyokuzan), a name documented on fine Meiji-period carvings and sometimes associated with Asahi Gyokuzan (1843–1923). Originating from Japan during the late 19th to early 20th century, this piece showcases the high-quality craftsmanship of Meiji-period decorative arts.
