Up for sale is a stunning, authentic antique Ostby & Barton 10K yellow gold bar pin. This beautiful piece of historic American jewelry dates securely to the late Victorian or Edwardian eras (circa 1880–1910). The pin features an elegant, central square-cut blue stone secured in a delicate millgrain bezel. Flanking the stone is a beautifully hand-engraved laurel leaf/wheat pattern along the solid 10K yellow gold band.The back features a classic, open "C-Clasp" mechanism, which was the standard before safety catches were introduced in 1910. The pin terminal is clearly stamped with the famous maker's mark "O-B 10K". The Ostby & Barton Company was founded in 1879 in Providence, Rhode Island. Pieces from this era are highly prized and sought after by historical collectors worldwide. The company’s co-founder, Engelhart Ostby, tragically perished during the sinking of the RMS Titanic on April 15, 1912. Because this pin features an early C-clasp, it was manufactured during Ostby's lifetime and before the tragic disaster.
