Antique so none will be perfect, although I will do my best to send the best looking ones as I ship. So buy early, get the best. These bricks are distinctive for their purple-brown tint, a result of the clay used around the Athens County, Ohio region. Manufactured in Nelsonville, Ohio from 1880 to 1927, these decorative bricks were used primarily for sidewalk. The glaze process was achieved by shoveling salt into the fire, where it vaporized at high temperatures in the kiln. This strengthened the brick and made it water tight. These bricks add character to landscape design in walkways and as decorative accents. They also make great doorstops and bookends.
