Up for sale is an exceptional, museum-quality antique German precision marine barograph produced by the legendary firm R. Fuess. Based on the historic acid-etched maker\'s plate adjacent to the handle (\"R. Fuess mech. opt. Werkstätten Berlin-Steglitz\"), this piece dates to the early 20th century (circa 1905–1912), following the workshop\'s historic relocation to Steglitz in 1891.
Unlike more common mid-century or Cold War-era barographs, this turn-of-the-century Edwardian piece is a highly scarce, early production model featuring a low four-digit serial number (No. 8063). This professional, maritime-grade weather instrument utilizes a robust, heavy-duty 9-chambered aneroid capsule stack built for exceptional high-sensitivity recording.

Clockwork Status: TESTED & WORKING. The internal mechanical clockwork winds up beautifully and ticks loudly, steadily, and smoothly.
Internal Key Included: Features the rare, original antique butterfly winding key preserved inside the drum cylinder housing.
Transit Key Included: Features the original matching ring-handled transport tool used to tighten the specialized chassis lockdown pin from underneath the baseplate for safe maritime transport.
Condition Details: This instrument is in immaculate cosmetic and structural condition for its 120+ year age. The interior oak wood remains remarkably light and clean, completely shielded from UV light and dust. The interior brass mechanics are incredibly bright, crisp, and completely free of corrosion or tarnish. The original paper chart grid on the drum remains sharp, and the swinging crescent-shaped dust door for the speed regulator window is fully intact.
Please note: This is an authentic, untouched estate piece. The top flathead calibration adjustment screw is currently tight and has not been forced or altered to protect the delicate internal springs. Due to localized high-desert altitude (low absolute pressure), the pen arm naturally rests at the bottom of the scale and will need to be safely calibrated or lubricated by the buyer depending on their geographic elevation.
Shipping & Handling:This is an incredibly rare, fragile scientific artifact. It will be packed with the utmost care to ensure it arrives exactly as pictured. The long pen arm will be safely immobilized with low-tack painters tape. The keys will be wrapped separately so they cannot scratch the woodwork or impact the glass.
