Authentic Spanish-colonial 2-Reales Silver Shipwreck Cob Coin in Emerald Bezel For Sale

Authentic original Spanish-colonial era 2-Reales denomination silver shipwreck cob coin with two-digit date “94” (presumably 1694). Struck with an error in the die, resulting in a mint-original design break in the shape of the cross (not unheard of but rare and quite attractive nonetheless). The coin is mounted in a custom designed and handcrafted bezel setting to be worn as a pendant. The bezel is made of solid sterling silver with an accent piece in the form of a flattened round gold disk at the lowest point of the pendant, made of solid 14k yellow gold, with a single small round dark green faceted emerald mounted into the face of the gold disk. The coin is a pillars-and-waves type design with very clear and legible denomination, date, and other details visible on the inward-facing side of the pendant (the cross is on the outward-facing side), though it bears mentioning that the bezel is open on both sides thus making the pendant reversible if desired, though only the “cross-side” features an emerald. The bale at the top of the pendant is on a swivel-pin making it more freely articulated when being worn on a chain and allowed to dangle, and the outer ring structure of the bezel is formed to resemble a twisted nautical-style ship’s-rope. The coin has not been graded, and the photos are meant to serve as the primary descriptor for the listing. Please view all photos carefully and judge condition for yourself. There are small markings on the lower prongs on the inward-facing side of the bezel stating “925” and “14k”, indicating the metal content of the bezel overall as well as the gold disk at the bottom.
