Bruford Feat. Allan Holdsworth Live in London 1979 Japan Edition CD IACD11813 For Sale

Bill Bruford's band Bruford (Bruford) — formed after his time in King Crimson and UK — stood apart within the '70s progressive rock and jazz-rock movement. Frustrated with the musical direction of UK, Bruford recruited guitarist Allan Holdsworth (who had left UK for similar reasons) as his key collaborator. He also brought in keyboardist Dave Stewart (formerly of Egg and Hatfield and the North, who had played on Bruford's debut solo album "Feels Good to Me") and rising bassist Jeff Berlin, a young technical virtuoso making waves on the jazz scene. Together, this quartet formed Bruford and released their debut album, "One of a Kind," in 1979, kicking off a 70-date tour across Europe and North America.

During that tour, the London show on May 8th of that year was held at The Venue, a live music club owned by Virgin Records, and was recorded and broadcast as part of a radio program. This album is a live recording of that broadcast, capturing the entire concert in full, including the encore.

The setlist draws from Bill Bruford's debut solo album "Feels Good to Me" and Bruford's first album "One of a Kind," and also features "Joe Frazier" (a track that would later appear on their next studio album), showcasing Jeff Berlin's astonishingly technical bass solo. Watching four master musicians weave through such tightly constructed material live is nothing short of stunning. Since no other live album from the Allan Holdsworth-era lineup has ever been officially released, this recording is bound to be a thrilling, even emotional, discovery for fans.
