Brown/chocolate morocco, gilt-lettered front cover with blind-stamped equestrian Revere device, patterned endpapers, all edges gilt; black-and-white Copley portrait frontispiece with an inlaid sheet attributing the frontispiece portrait of Revere to John Singleton Copley. Printed by Enschede at Haarlem and bound by Proost en Brandt at Amsterdam. A finely made St. Onge miniature containing Revere’s contemporary deposition concerning the Lexington alarm, introduced by Pulitzer Prize–winning historian and novelist Esther Forbes.
Achille J. St. Onge was a Worcester-based specialist publisher of finely produced miniature books, and this title is recorded as a 1,000-copy miniature printed in Holland and issued under his Worcester imprint.
