Condition Description
Acceptable / Good (Used) Complete 3-volume set in original slipcase.
* Slipcase: Shows visible shelf wear, rubbing on surfaces, and edge wear, including a split/bumping along the top corner opening.
* Covers / Cloth Bindings: Cloth covers display cosmetic staining and discoloration—notably red spots/ink marks on Volume 2 and a liquid stain along the edge/spine of one cover. Bindings remain firm and intact.
* Interior: Text blocks and interior pages are in good, clean condition. I took a photo of one page that has a small tear on the top.

This comprehensive reference documents 1,209 paintings on canvas and panel, 722 paintings on paper, and 889 collages by Abstract Expressionist master Robert Motherwell.

* Exterior Slipcase: Intact and sturdy, but displays wear along edges and corners, rubbing across the top panel, and corner cracking/splitting at the upper opening edge (see photos).
* Cloth Hardcovers: Firm bindings with ribbon page markers intact. Cloth surfaces show visible exterior staining (red spots on Volume 2 cover and liquid tide marks along one volume cover edge).
* Pages & Plates: Interior text pages, full-color plates, and page edges remain clean, bright, and tightly bound.
This book was kept in an artists studio in New York and has some paint and wear. I think it gives it character and a story.
