As part of TWA\'s early DC-9 fleet, it offered efficient, twin-engine jet service on dense city pairs. In 1979, the aircraft transferred to Midway Airlines, continuing domestic operations for over a decade. Later, it was re-registered as HK-3752X with Colombia\'s Intercontinental de Aviacion, flying regional routes until retirement. With a career spanning more than three decades, N1067T exemplifies the longevity and versatility of the DC-9-15 series, transitioning seamlessly between U.S. and international carriers before being withdrawn from service in the 2000s.
McDonnell Douglas DC-9-15 Designed as a short-range twin-jet transport, the DC-9 was first flown on February 25th, 1965. Since shorter routes frequently required operation from small airports, the design focused on short-field performance. The most significant decision was to move the engines from under the wings to the tail, enabling the use of full-span flaps, reducing the possibility of foreign-object ingestion and lowering ground clearance for easier servicing at small terminals. The DC-9 spawned many variants leading to the MD-80, MD-90 and Boeing 717. In total, almost 2,500 aircraft were built over a period of more than 40 years.
