Offered for sale is an original c1910 University of Pittsburgh tobacco leather, featuring an early architectural view of the university campus.
This is a large-format tobacco premium measuring approximately 3.5” × 2.5”.
The detailed design features “UNIV. OF PITTSBURGH” across the top, a central school shield, an elaborate university building/campus scene, decorative foliage and a dotted border.
These early collegiate leathers were distributed during the early 20th-century tobacco-premium era and are now collected as both Tobacciana and early college memorabilia.
Condition: Original antique condition with considerable age-related wear. There is surface discoloration, fading, spotting, finish/print loss and edge wear. The heaviest wear is concentrated along the lower portion and lower-left area. Despite the wear, the University of Pittsburgh lettering, shield and architectural scene remain clearly identifiable.
No cleaning or restoration has been attempted.
Please review the photo carefully for exact condition. You will receive the exact leather pictured.
A nice early piece for collectors of University of Pittsburgh/Pitt memorabilia, antique tobacco premiums, college leathers, Pennsylvania history and early collegiate memorabilia.
