Framed and ready to hang------------------------------WHAT YOU ARE LOOKING ATBenjamin Henry Latrobe\'s neoclassical pump house at Centre

Philadelphia until 1815. The fountain at center is William Rush\'s
carved figure, the Spirit of the Schuylkill. That ground is now Broad and Market Streets. Philadelphia City
Hall stands on this exact spot today.Drawn by John James Barralet (c. 1747-1815), the Irish artist who
settled in Philadelphia in 1795, and engraved in stipple by
Cornelius Tiebout (c. 1773-1832) — widely considered the finest
American-born engraver of his generation, and this among his THIS IMPRESSION IS IDENTIFIEDThe printer H. Quig later acquired Tiebout\'s copperplate and
added a small figure to the roadway between the gig and the
covered wagon. It was crudely cut and badly out of scale, so Quig
tried to burnish it back off the plate. The erasure was only
partly successful — in the third and fourth states, that figure
survives as a faint \"ghost\" in the open ground between the two
vehicles. The fourth state is separated from the third by Quig\'s imprint
below the title. It is present on this impression and
photographed above:
\"Published by H. Quig, No. 9 George St. above 6th St.\"Also photographed: the engraved signatures in the plate,
\"J.J. Barralet del.t\" at lower left and \"C. Tiebout sculp.t\" at
