About the Artist
Doze Green (b. 1964, Jeffrey Green) is a pioneering figure in graffiti and street art, and a founding member of the legendary Rock Steady Crew, the hip-hop collective that helped define breakdancing in 1970s New York. Beginning as a subway-tagging graffiti artist in the Bronx, Green transitioned from walls to canvas over the following decades, developing a distinctive style rooted in cubism, calligraphy, and Japanese Edo-period aesthetics. His work is exhibited internationally - including shows at the Museum of Contemporary Art, gallery representation across the US and Europe, and public commissions in cities worldwide - and is held in private and public collections throughout the United States, Japan, Europe, and Australia. Green describes his figures as “biological entities - a swarm of arrows coming in from infinite perspective,” reflecting his ongoing exploration of time, narrative, and identity.
